1989 Thunderstorms developing ahead of a strong cold front produced severe weather from Oklahoma to Ohio through the day and night. Thunderstorms spawned nine tornadoes, and there were 155 reports of large hail and damaging winds. Hail three and a half inches in diameter was reported at Dittmer, MO, and thunderstorm winds gusting to 90 MPH caused twenty million dollars damage at Rockville IN. 1990 Evening thunderstorms spawned four tornadoes in Kansas and Missouri, and there were three dozen reports of large hail or damaging winds. Thunderstorms produced hail two inches in diameter at Cole Camp, and wind gusts to 72 mph at Rosebud. Heavy thunderstorm rains produced flash flooding in central Missouri. Flood waters swept through Washington State Park southwest of Saint Louis, and nearly one hundred persons had to be rescued from water as much as twenty feet deep. It was picking up a lot of moisture from someplace, data is collected automatically from all over the US to develop the forecasts, one of the sites must have had some bad data. Oh well maybe next time. I always check My Forecast and the NWS forecast and the Weather Caster 84 hour snow forecast to get a good idea what's on the way.

If you go sledding Wen. night it's going to be down to 20 below before you factor wind chill, be very careful. If you don't have the proper equipment DO NOT GO!!I have seen rider's at Young's in jeans and a regular work coat. DON"T DO IT.

02/14/13 - 07:25 PM You may have noticed My Forecast for this weekend --- 42 inches of snow. I was watching it very carefully but --- It has now corrected itself :-( We could use 42 inches. It was picking up a lot of moisture from someplace, data is collected automatically from all over the US to develop the forecasts, one of the sites must have had some bad data. Oh well maybe next time. I always check My Forecast and the NWS forecast and the Weather Caster 84 hour snow forecast to get a good idea what's on the way.

If you go sledding Wen. night it's going to be down to 20 below before you factor wind chill, be very careful. If you don't have the proper equipment DO NOT GO!!I have seen rider's at Young's in jeans and a regular work coat. DON"T DO IT.

I was away and Mark my backup station operator was ill so I had to wait until I got home to fix the problem. We are back online and no data was lost, the station was running fine but it could not transmit to the hosting service. We are back online now and everything is running fine.
