    1. Hi,

I think the rain will help the trails, now that the temp. has dropped they should be able to groom tonight.

    2. Hi,
Just got back from a short midweek trip to Pittsburg- On Wed, we rode from Round Pond to Colebrook, on 139, 140, 20, and a few different trails through Coleman State Park before taking 18 into town.
Then we headed over to Errol for lunch, and returned via 5, 20, and 140.
The trails were wide, white and smooth. In several places, we were making first tracks. In 115 miles we saw less than 40 other sleds- and that was mostly within 5 miles of a town.
Great conditions, great trip- I wish we were able to spend another couple days.
      See ya soon!

    3. Hi,

We just got back from a 650 mile 8 day snowmobile trip over in Maine. We got as far North as Pittston Farm, North of Moosehead Lake. The trails were great.

It warmed up over the weekend and messed up our trails. It should be colder this weekend.

    4. 03/10/2009 – We are back from our 8 day snowmobile trip. We left Pittsburg on March 1 and headed for Rangeley by way of Oquossoc. We met everyone at Carr Bridge, We picked up 139 to 5 then 112 to 20. At the border we picked up ITS 84 over to Oquossoc, the trail conditions were normal, bumpy. Then we got on the lake and headed to Rangeley. The lake was 80 percent ice, no snow for lubrication and cooling. It was a long slow trip. We stayed at the Rangeley Inn, very nice. Day 1 68.2 miles.

After a good nights sleep we headed to Bingham in a snow storm, on ITS 84/89, 84 and 87. Along the way we had to cross what looked like a river and not on a bridge, down on the ICE. That was interesting. As soon as we got about 20 miles away from Rangeley the trails were perfect, groomed and flat. We spent the night at the Bingham Motor Inn. It was 82.2 miles that day.

We had very good meals at a small luncheonette across the street from the motel (North Country Variety). “Good Stop”.

On 3/3 we headed to The Birches in Rockwood. It was a very nice ride on 87, and 88. We were on several local trails along the way, all the trails were perfect. The mileage for the day was 79.2. The food at the Birches is great. If you go up that way you should stop.

The next morning after a large breakfast we headed North. The trip to Pittston Farm is only 42 miles, so after we registered and had lunch we went for a ride, and what a ride it was. All of the trails were perfectly groomed and in excellent shape. They are all maintained by Pittston Farm. We ended the day with 77.1 miles of spectacular riding. Everyone agreed that Pittston Farm was the highlight of the trip. All you could eat great food and clean, warm and cozy rooms.

The next morning we reluctantly left and headed South through Northeast Carry and Kokadjo on Rt. 66 to Greenville. It was a very nice ride with breathtaking views of the lake and mountains. We spent the night at the Black Frog. We parked our sleds on the lake in front of the Black Frog and had a nice dinner in the restaurant after some shopping in town. We traveled 74.1 miles that day.

The next morning we left Greenville in a snow storm and headed back to Bingham on ITS 87 and local trails. They were in perfect shape even with the 6 inches of fresh powder. We traveled 79.2 miles that day.

The next morning we headed South on 87 and 84 back to Rangeley. When we got within 20 of Rangeley to trails were horrible. It was a combination of warm weather and LACK OF GROOMING. In my opinion Rangeley caters to the skiers not snowmobilers.

The Next morning we elected not to go down the lake it had a lot of slush on it. We went around the lake to the North to Oquossoc, this would have been a good ride if the trails were groomed. After we gassed up we headed home, The trip was 93.3 miles of hell. None of the trails were groomed not even ours. The warm weather took a toll on then. One bright spot was our stop at Bosebuck for lunch and a rest. We tried the trails to the North hoping they would be in better shape, but they were not. Other than the time in and around Rangeley we had a ball.

The next time we head North we will probably go through Eustis and Straton.

The total trip was about 640 miles and eight days.

I Just Read You Latest Adventure Report. A Group Of Us Left Pittsburg
This Past Monday On A Trip To Moosehead. I Was Unfortunate That The
Weather Sunday Night Was Too Warm For Grooming. We Went 170 Miles
Monday To The Forks. 120 Miles Of It Was The Worst Riding I’Ve Done
In 20 Years. You’r Right About Rangley, Seems They’Re Content With
Grooming A Trail Once A Week. Eustis Trails Were Awesome. After
Eustis The Trails Were Horrible Till About 10 Miles From The Forks.
Seems Like The Forks Area Just Grooms About A 15 Mile Radius. Tuesday
We Went To Greenville, Kokadjo, Pittstons Farm Then To The Birches
Overnight. You Right About The Birches. Nicely Rustic Cabins And Food
Almost As Good As The Rainbow Grille. We Had To Do Some Repairs
Wednesday Morning And They Let Us Use Their Garage And Tools. Great
People They Saved Our Day. All The Trails Around Moosehead Were
Perfect. Wednesday We Made It All The Way Back To Pittsburg, 230
Miles. Trail From Rangley Was Ok But As Soon As We Hit The Border It
Was Full Speed. I Love That Trail 20 From Tin Camp. Hopefully The
Best Riding Of The Season Is Still To Come. I Love Those T-Shirt
Riding Days. Keep Up The Great Reports. Hope To Meet You Someday.
